Concept Note on Responsible Care RC 14001

Responsible Care is a voluntary commitment by the global chemical industry to drive continuous improvement and achieve excellence in Environment, Health, Safety and Security performance. It was formalized by inclusion of Responsible Care Global Charter in Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) in 2006 under the banner of International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA). This was later revised in 2014.

It was integrated with ISO 14001 and published as RC 14001 standard by American Chemistry Council (ACC) to provide a single audit process for their multiple business needs covering ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Product Stewardship, Distribution, Community Awareness and Emergency Response and Process Safety. The standard has been warmly embraced by wide range of industries ranging from Oil and Refinery to Fertilizer to Specialty Chemicals, to Mines to Minerals.
